Not Lorem Ipsum. Generate genuinely entertaining placeholder text in four distinct flavours. Because your mockups deserve better than dead Latin.
Placeholder text is the scaffolding of visual design. Before real copy arrives, designers need something to fill the gaps - text that occupies space, demonstrates typographic hierarchy, and gives stakeholders a rough sense of how a finished page will feel. Without it, layouts look skeletal and clients struggle to imagine the end result.
Lorem Ipsum has held a near-monopoly on this job since the 1960s, when Letraset first printed it on dry-transfer sheets. It works well enough: the Latin-ish word lengths mimic English, the letter distribution is unremarkable, and nobody mistakes it for real content. But after six decades of universal use, it has become invisible. Designers glaze over it. Clients ignore it entirely - or worse, ship it to production because nobody noticed it was still there.
That is the case for alternative filler text. Text with a recognisable flavour - corporate jargon, science fiction, nature narration, pseudo-philosophy - still fills space and demonstrates layout, but it is impossible to overlook. A paragraph about leveraging synergistic paradigm shifts will never accidentally survive to launch day. A starship captain's log wedged into a pricing table will get flagged in the first review.
Distinctive placeholder text also makes the design process more enjoyable. Reviewing mockups is tedious work, and a well-placed absurdity can keep reviewers engaged and attentive. If people are actually reading the filler, they are also noticing line lengths, font sizes, and spacing - the very things placeholder text exists to test.
This generator produces text in four modes, each with enough variety to avoid repetition across large projects. Use Corporate Waffle for business sites, Sci-Fi Transmissions for tech products, Nature Documentary for editorial layouts, and Philosophical Rambling for anything that needs a vaguely intellectual tone. Every paragraph is procedurally assembled from a library of templates, so the output stays fresh across multiple generations.
